Crazy Fourth of July Weekend

We had a crazy busy weekend and I have TONS of pictures to prove it. Saturday we hit up the farmer's market then went up the green bay to Bay beach. He rode the train:

 

Notice these 2 pictures... he's in purple cars. He picked them out. Apparently he's in a purple stage :)

His grandma has an orange bug, so when he picked out the bug.. he picked out an orange one to be like Omi. :)

 

After Bay beach, we went to Gigi's house. Then the Onieda Pow wow. Killian LOVED the pelts he found there and the music. :) Then Killian went with his Omi's to a family reunion, while I made about 20 jars of Strawberry jam. 

Sunday, we went to the lake for fishing with grandpa, jet skiing, going to the "candy store" for ice cream, and smores.

We also went to Gammie's on Sunday to play in the pirate ship. We still have the railing to put up, but Killian found the telescope, steering wheel, and pirate map VERY interesting.

 

Monday was Fourth of July, and we went to Community Fest.

Killian wanted to go through all the bounce houses. He went to the caterpillar, and he came out the end saying: The caterpillar ate me, I crawled through the tummy, and he pooped me out!!

He was VERY happy with his slushy.

 

Monday after nap, we had a friend come over for swimming and play time. The kids played in the playroom and the kitchen together.

 Then they rode in the jeep together.

 Killian got to play with sparklers and poppers.

 He figured out that when he stepped on the poppers they'd pop too. He loved it.

We had a very exciting weekend with lots of fun. He went to fireworks with his dad, so I'm not sure how much he likes them.

Another Birthday Week!!!

 

June is a very crazy month for us. We have 3 birthdays, father's day, end of school, and the beginning of summer.  AND killian and my birthdays are EXACTLY a week apart. So last week was his birthday, and this past week was my birthday. 

Monday morning Killian had his doctor appointment, which went well except for the fact that he may need speech therapy. I was in speech therapy from age 2.5-5, so it's not too surprising. However with my student teaching in the fall, trying to get him to see a speech therapist on top of it will be difficult. So I'm praying that his pronunciations of words will continue to improve until September. He also had swim lessons on Monday. SIGH. Here's something embarrassing. I was under the impression that swim lessons were ONLY on Mondays, so Killian's had 2 swim lessons in the past 2 weeks. Come to find out, NOPE. they are EVERY day. So Killian's missed 8/10 swim lessons. UGH. Monday night Killian ended up in the ER. Sigh. He had a prolapsed rectum at his dad's house, and we thought it was a hemorrhoid. SO we headed to the ER, only to find out that it had resolved itself. (Which is MUCH better than the alternative). Killian thoroughly enjoyed himself, and has since referred to the hospital as "his hospital". Anyway, the nice part of the ER on monday night was that I got to take him home Monday night instead of Tuesday morning. SO I woke up to his little monkey face on my birthday :)

We spent the morning at the zoo with my mom:

Here he was the zoo keeper eating Mommy.. the alligator. He LOVES alligators :)

I put his baseball hat on... and he had to turn it backwards. It's his style.

Gammie played in the castle at the park.. he loved it

He loved the balance beam. He's really getting into large motor activites.

We went out to dinner at a local Italian bistro which was DELICIOUS. Then we came home for cake and presents. All day Killian was convinced that it wasn't my birthday.. it was both of ours. I guess since I made such a big deal out of his birthday, he couldn't come to grips with the fact that it was my bday too. He was VERY upset that there were presents for him.

 

It was a nice week... we hit the zoo/park, story time, gardened, and I worked my butt off Thursday and Friday while he was gone.

Gardening and Foraging

I finally have some pictures of the garden!! :)

 Here I highlighted the 10 different sections of the garden.... I have pictures of each section with the plants labeled.

 This is the second half of Section one... one side is tomatoes, the other side cucumbers

In addition to my garden... I discovered a wonderful little thing... free WILD carrots :) Haha actually it's queen anne's lace. But the roots are carrots. I'm pretty sure a few people walking past me, watching me pull out weeds from the side of the road, thought I was a little crazy. I can't wait for them to get a little bigger :)
